The sun's great energy may soon be used in the dark night.
Key words: Solar power plant.Power Inverter system.Battery inverter.
Solar radiation heats the earth's crust significantly during the day, but that energy loses out into the cold state of space when the sun goes down.
"In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, it was found that the efficiency of the steam engine depended on the temperature difference throughout the engine, and that the field of thermodynamics was born in.
"The same principle applies to the solar power -- The sun provides heat sources, and solar panels relatively cool on the earth's surface provide cold absorbers. This can generate electricity.
"But when we consider the infrared emission from the Earth into outer space, now the Earth is relatively warm objects, and the vast space void is extremely cold.
"By the same thermodynamic principle, you can also generate electricity from this temperature difference: emitting infrared light into space."
"We usually think of light emission as an energy-consuming thing, but in the mid-infrared, we all emit radiation energy, and we have shown to extract power," Nicholas said.
"We haven't made heat radiation diodes a magical material for everyday reality, but we have proven the principles and are eager to see how much we can improve on this outcome in the years to come."
The team is now pleased to enter the next phase of research to create and improve their own equipment to leverage night power, and to welcome potential industry partners.
